The frame of this visit, which was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Pays de la Loire, aimed to present EIFER’s activities in the field of hydrogen with a focus on hydrogen mobility. COSMHYC is one of these EIFER projects, dedicated to deliver on advanced compression technology for hydrogen filling stations.
Complementary to various project presentations and the visit of EIFER’s fuel cell laboratories at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the participants had the opportunity to visit three hydrogen refuelling stations:
- the hydrogen refuelling station in Sarreguemines; the first in France with onsite electrolysis
- the TOTAL refuelling station in Karlsruhe with a high-temperature electrolyser (SOEC) for the production and storage of renewable hydrogen
- the KIT hydrogen refuelling station supplied by Air Liquide and supported by the Baden-Württemberg's Ministry of Environment, Climate and Energy.
The programme closed with the visit of the Power-to-Gas installation “Energiepark Mainz” a common project from Siemens, Linde Group, the Rhein-Main University and Stadtwerke Mainz, producing hydrogen by PEM electrolysis, using electricity from wind energy and funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWI).
This ambitious agenda allowed a deep overview of the current state of the hydrogen mobility technologies and infrastructures. During the rich exchanges, further research needs were identified and potential cooperation opportunities considered.
